Draft Stages:

Stage One – Player Retention COMPLETE:

This, as indicated by this article is now complete and the teams can not retain any other members of their 2023 squads.

Stage Two – The Hundred Draft, Powered By Sage (Wednesday 20th March):

Now Deadline Day has passed, focus turns to the next stage of signings and opportunity to fill the squads, The Hundred Draft, Powered By Sage. The draft will take place on Wednesday 20th of March. Both competitions (men’s & women’s) will have their own draft, with teams taking it in turn to select players.

The women’s draft order is as follows: Birmingham Phoenix, Manchester Originals, London Spirit, Oval Invincibles, Trent Rockets, Welsh Fire, Northern Superchargers & Southern Brave. This is a reverse of the 2023 final standings.

The players which enter the Draft will each set a reserve price, this is the lowest amount of money which they can be signed for. However, they aren’t limited to this amount, if a team decides to sign them for more that is perfectly fine.

Each side will draft players until the top 13 positions within their squads are filled and each squad can only sign three overseas players.

There is one complicated aspect of the draft, with each side recieving one “Right to Match” option. This allows them to re-sign ONE of the players from their 2023 squads that they didn’t retain prior to deadline day, WHEN a rival team offers to buy them during the draft. The one condition is that the team using their “Right to Match” option HAS to offer the same salary band as the side they are using it against. Therefore, if all of the slots have been filled in that bracket, the option to retain isn’t available.

2024 Women’s Salary Bands – £50,000 (2 players), £40,000 (2 players), £30,000 (2 players), £17,500 (2 players), £14,000 (2 players), £11,000 (2 players), £8,000 (3 players)

Stage Three – The Vitality Wildcard:

After the conclusion of The Draft, the two lowest salary slots in the Women’s Competition will be filled using The Vitality Wildcard. These contracts are filled closer to the start of the tournament, and allow the teams to reward domestic form. It allows players who weren’t selected in the main Draft opportunity to still pick up a contract.

Additional Information:
In the Women’s Competition, each side will nominate one “designated marquee player.” This player can bring in another overseas or domestic player, in the event that a player needs to be replaced before or during a competition due to injury etc.
